History
Abua Creek Town carries the Abua line upriver into Odukpani country, an Efut clan planted at the waterside where the creek gave landing to canoes moving between the estuary and the interior. The jetty was its living: a place of arrival and departure, where fish came ashore and produce went afloat, tying the Efut world to the river trade that sustained all of Old Calabar. One of the eight clans of the Efut nation, it holds the Usak Edet memory in a new anchorage — the crossing people, still keeping a foot in the water.
