History

Abua Isu-Ekom traces the third branch of the Abua line, its crossing from Usak Edet made not straight to Calabar but by way of Ikang on the coastal creeks, then inland to the Akpabuyo country east of the estuary. That staged migration — landfall, pause, push inland — is the classic Efut pattern, each stop leaving kin behind so the route itself became a chain of settlement. Counted among the eight clans of the Efut nation, Abua Isu-Ekom holds the eastern reach of the Efut story: the clan that mapped the road in by walking it.
