Some clans are named for cities; the Danejawa are named for cattle. Their name recalls the daneeji — the white zebu of the northern herds — and their identity as herd-masters among the Kano Fulɓe who joined the founding of the new emirate. Among scholar houses and throne houses, theirs is the plate where the collection remembers that all Fulɓe wealth began on four legs.

The plate is a herd book: rows of paired horn marks with the great white zebu itself standing in gold at the center of the count.
