History

Kasuk carried the Qua nation down to the mangrove edge, where the forest people learned the tidewater's trades — fish traps in the creeks, periwinkle beds, mangrove timber cut for fuel and building. A forest clan living where salt meets fresh, Kasuk shows the reach of the Ejagham Qua federation: from upland grove to brackish root, all fourteen clans under one Ndidem. The stilted roots of this plate are its emblem — a people standing firm in shifting water, as the mangrove does.
