The Mundubawa are counted among the founding Fulɓe houses of the Kano emirate — one of the clans whose leaders sat in the councils that reordered the city after 1807, and whose line held traditional office under the new order. Not the loudest name in the chronicle, but present at every turning of it.

The plate is a council register: rows of crescent marks in formation, two turned to accent — the houses that answered when the roll was called.
