Mbiabo is the Efik clan of three towns — Edere, Ikot Offiong and Ikoneto — on the Cross River. The plate draws their joining: three waters, one channel.

History

The Mbiabo settled the Cross River bank rather than the Calabar River when the Efik dispersed from Uruan, planting their three towns — Edere, Ikot Offiong and Ikoneto — along the great waterway itself. Sitting on the main artery to the interior, Ikot Offiong in particular grew into a noted river market, trading upriver toward Itu and beyond while remaining bound to the Efik nation in blood, Ekpe and law. The clan's three-in-one structure endures: separate towns, one Mbiabo voice.
